  • Distinguishing Features:

    Wormholes and cracks across the whole object. Major paint cracking, degradation and loss. The sculpture comprises of two pieces of wood. The reverse left part of the sculpture (parts of the drapery, upper part of the back, shoulder and an upper arm) is attached to the other piece with two iron dowels. One in the left shoulder, and the other on the lower part of the drapery (knee level). There is a metal hook in the middle of the reverse side. There are three holes, app 0.5cm deep, presumably from a screw, two below the hook, one above it. There are traces of white paint across the reverse side.

A wooden sculpture of a group of three figures. The large female figure (Mary) is holding a smaller figure, a baby (Jesus) in her left arm. To her right is a figure of a child, holding her hand. The female figure is standing on her right leg with her left knee slightly bent. She is wearing a dress and a cape covering her head and back, and wrapped around her left hip. A figure of the baby is naked. His left hand is on his chest and his right hand is holding the female figure around the neck. The right figure of the child is standing on its left leg with its right leg turned slightly to the right and bent at the knee. Its right hand is on its chest, its left is raised above it's shoulder holding the hand of the female figure. It has a long wavy hair and is wearing a long wavy dress. There is a rotating wooden plate with a segment missing on the bottom of the reverse side. It is attached with a piece of metal. It was originally created for the Chapel of Saint Fabian and Sebastian, Kuče, Turopolje, Croatia; donated to the Zagreb City Museum in 1911.
