A wooden polychrome sculpture of St Paul hand-carved around 1763 by the Baroque sculptor Joseph Holzinger (1735 – 1797). The sculpture depicts a male figure leaning on his right leg with his left leg slightly bent. His head is turned downward to his right. He is wearing a rich, wavy gold robe and a voluminous drapery across his left shoulder and down the sides of his body. He is barefoot, his cheeks are slightly red and he has wavy brown hair and a long beard. His left arm is stretched to his left side and he was probably holding a sword which has not been preserved. In his right hand, reaching to the left, he is holding a book which is resting on his hip. The figure is standing on a square, dark (wooden) plinth. The sculpture was purchased by Fran Windischer from the Antique Shop Tizian in Ljubljana. It was giftied to the National Gallery of Slovenia in 1933.
