The polychrome wooden sculpture of A Kneeling Angel was hand-carved by the Baroque sculptor Joseph Straub (1712 – 1756) in the second quarter of the 18th century. The sculpture depicts an angel with shoulder-length, curly brown hair. The figure is kneeling on the left knee, which is entirely covered by a flowing gold drapery. The right leg is bent at the knee, with the foot pointed outward toward the right. The head is tilted downward and slightly to the right. The upper body is turned downwards to the left. Both arms are bent at the elbows, with the hands positioned in front of his chest in a gesture resembling prayer. A light red pigment is used to emphasize the blush in his cheeks and the lips. He has blue eyes. The gold drapery falls across the figure in a flowing manner, covering the right upper arm and elbow, the hips, the right thigh, and the entirety of the left leg. He has gold, spread wings. Works on the conservation and restauration were conducted from 2006 to 2010.
